Your Questions, Answered

  • Yes — our wooden bowls, charcuterie boards, spoons, and other food-contact items are finished with a natural blend of flaxseed oil and beeswax, which we use as a food-safe finish when properly cured and used as intended.

These pieces are made for normal household serving and kitchen use. If you ever have a question about a specific item, just reach out.

  • Wood is a natural material, and a little care goes a long way.

    For best results:

    • Hand wash only

    • Do not soak

    • Do not place in the dishwasher

    • Dry promptly after washing

    • Avoid extreme heat or sudden temperature changes

    • Recondition as needed based on use and environment

Proper care helps your piece age beautifully and last for years.

For full care instructions, please review our Wooden Bowl Care Guide:

  • No — wooden items should always be hand washed only.

Dishwashers expose wood to prolonged moisture, heat, and rapid drying, which can lead to:

    • Cracking

    • Warping

    • Splitting

    • Raised grain

    • Finish breakdown

A quick hand wash and prompt drying is always the best approach.

  • Not exactly — and that’s part of the beauty of handmade work.

Many of our pieces are one of a kind, and even when we make similar designs, no two pieces will ever be identical. Because we work with natural materials like wood, wool, leather, and metal, variations in:

    • Grain

    • Color

    • Figure

    • Texture

    • Shape

    • Hand-finished details

are all part of what make each piece unique.

We do our best to represent each item as accurately as possible, but natural variation is always to be expected.

  • Yes — we’re happy to discuss custom work when possible.

Custom orders are one of our favorite parts of what we do, especially when there’s a chance to create something personal, functional, or one of a kind.

Because custom projects can vary depending on design, size, materials, and our current schedule:

    • We’ll discuss the details with you directly

    • A projected completion and shipping timeframe will be established in advance

    • If anything changes, we’ll communicate that in a timely manner

    • Updates will be shared using your preferred contact method whenever possible

We believe good communication is an important part of custom work, and we do our best to keep customers informed throughout the process.

  • For most orders:

Ready-to-ship items typically ship within 3–7 business days

Made-to-order or custom pieces may require additional time

If a product has a different timeline, we do our best to note that on the product listing.

For custom work, estimated timing is discussed directly with the customer as part of the process.

  • We may ship orders using carriers such as:

    • USPS

    • UPS

    • FedEx

We choose the shipping method that best fits the size, weight, destination, and needs of each order.

  • If your order arrives damaged in transit, please contact us as soon as possible.

To help us review the issue, we may ask for:

    • Your order information

    • Photos of the damaged item

    • Photos of the packaging and shipping box

    • Photos of any visible damage to the label or outer packaging

Please keep all original packaging until the issue has been reviewed, as it may be needed for a carrier claim.

Shipping damage is handled separately from our workmanship guarantee and may require a carrier claim depending on the situation.

  • Because many of our pieces are handmade, one of a kind, or made from natural materials, we generally do not accept returns on non-defective items.

We encourage customers to review product descriptions, dimensions, and photos carefully before purchasing, and to reach out with any questions before ordering — we’re always happy to help.

If you feel strongly about a return for a non-defective item, you’re welcome to contact us. While we can’t guarantee approval, we may review requests on a case-by-case basis at our discretion.

    Please note:

    • Customers are responsible for return shipping when applicable

    • Approved refunds are limited to the purchase price of the item only

    • Shipping charges are non-refundable

  • Our 90-day limited workmanship guarantee covers defects related to manufacturing or craftsmanship only.

In simple terms, if an issue appears to be the direct result of how the piece was made or finished, we’ll review it and determine whether it qualifies for coverage.

If a claim is approved, we may resolve it through:

    • Repair

    • Replacement

    • Store credit

    • Refund

    at our sole discretion.

What is not covered under the guarantee?

Our guarantee does not cover issues caused by:

    • Misuse or abuse

    • Neglect

    • Improper cleaning or care

    • Dishwashing or soaking

    • Prolonged exposure to water or moisture

    • Extreme heat, cold, dryness, or humidity

    • Accidental damage

    • Normal wear and tear

    • Natural movement or aging of materials

Because we work with real wood and other natural materials, some change over time is completely normal.

  • If you believe there’s a workmanship issue, please contact us within 90 days of delivery.

    We may ask for:

    • Your order information

    • A brief description of the issue

    • Clear photos of the item and any visible damage

Photos are often the best way for us to determine whether the issue appears to be related to manufacturing or craftsmanship.

  • Yes — and honestly, that’s part of what makes real wood special.

Wood is an ever-changing natural material, and depending on the environment, it may respond over time. That can include:

    • Slight expansion or contraction

    • Subtle movement

    • Changes in color or appearance

    • More character with age and use

We take thoughtful steps to minimize movement and instability, but no one can promise that real wood will never change. Natural movement and aging are part of the character of the material and are not considered defects.

  • That depends on how often it’s used and the environment it lives in.

A good general rule is to recondition whenever the wood starts to look:

    • Dry

    • Dull

    • Lighter in color than usual

    • Less smooth or less “nourished” than when it arrived

Homes with very dry air, seasonal heat, or frequent use may need more regular maintenance.

  • Our sculptures and mixed-material pieces may include combinations of:

    • Wood

    • Wool

    • Leather

    • Metal

    • Other natural or handcrafted materials

These materials can naturally change over time. Depending on the piece, that may include:

    • Leather softening or darkening

    • Metal developing patina or oxidation

    • Wool shifting slightly with handling

    • Wood responding to environmental conditions

We generally recommend displaying decorative pieces indoors unless otherwise stated, and keeping them away from prolonged moisture, extreme temperature swings, and excessive direct sunlight whenever possible.

If you have questions about caring for a specific piece, feel free to contact us.

  • Unless a piece is specifically described as food-safe or intended for food contact, it should be considered decorative only.

Decorative and sculptural items are not intended for food use unless clearly stated.

If you’re unsure about a particular piece, please ask before using it with food.

  • Absolutely.
